Engaging students in literacy is necessary for students to succeed in
all content areas. When students are engaged they are attentive, excited, and
motivated. Literacy is anything dealing with reading, writing, or
communicating. The purpose of this study was to investigate different ways to
engage students in literacy. The study focused on the ways teachers organize
their classroom, plan their literacy block, and implement activities. Data was
collected through personal observations, teacher interviews, photographs,
videos, and student work. Our findings are consistent with the research we
conducted prior to our personal studies.
